We loved watching Angelina Jolie’s appearance on ABC’s Nightline on Wednesday night, detailing her work with the U.N. and her trip that day to Washington D.C. Her mission: To announce the launch of a new organization she helped fund...the National Center for Refugee and Immigrant Children... to protect young refugees entering the U.S. alone and provide free legal aid to the thousands of children who arrive each year as refugees and immigrants. How in the world would she have time for Brad Pitt?!

I respect the work that Angelina has done, becoming known during recent years for her philanthropic work with other nations. She is someone who has used her celebrity status to help instigate positive social changes.
Ultimately Jolie would like for the United States to commit to more aid for these countries and continue support in other ways. For someone who had somewhat of a “checkered past,” she has really shown the people what she is all about. I believe Jolie is committed to the long run, and she wants to be able to really help these people in need.
I found it interesting when Jolie said that her celebrity feels somewhat shallow. She has found that doing something good for others helps to create sense in her own life, and has given one third of her income to refugee work. Because of her volunteer efforts, she has said that she feels better about herself, having created value for other people, and she is grateful that she has discovered the world. How refreshing. Hats off to Angelina for continuing her phenomenal work!
Yep, we need more Jolies too.. :)
